Seven months after a fire in Brough House on South Green, the case is drawing to a conclusion.
“We have just secured an indictment in the Brough House arson,” said Andrew Powers, Ohio University Police Department chief of police, in an email.
Former Ohio University student Nathan Cencula was indicted by the Athens County Grand Jury. He was charged with aggravated arson on June 4, 2011, when he turned himself in a day after the fire.
The fire occurred around 2:00 a.m. on June 3, 2011, according to a previous Post article. It caused an estimated $50,000 in damages to the residence hall’s common room.
Cencula was a sophomore at OU when he was charged. He lives in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Powers added that the two arsons committed in Fall Quarter — at True House and Foster House — are still under investigation.
