Local residents interested in the possibility of hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking," coming to Athens County can hear how the Ohio Department of Natural Resources will approach legislation that could allow drilling and logging on public land.
Bob Boyles, Chief of the ODNR Division of Forestry, will come to Athens to speak about legislation that would allow drilling and loggin on public forests and parks, according to a news release from ODNR and will discuss how ODNR is approaching this legislation.
Boyles will be at the Athens Community Center, Room C, on Thursday Jan 5, at 7 p.m., according to the release.
“This is an opportunity for involvement in this issue and a unique opportunity to have the Chief of Forestry address Southeast Ohioans,” said Loraine McCosker, chairwoman of the Appalachian Ohio Group.
Those in attendance will be able to ask questions and discuss the potential legislation. The event is free and open to all, according to the release.
