The executive director of Ohio University’s Baker University Center will see a raise of almost $10,000 when he heads to a new job in Florida next month.
Sujit Chemburkar, executive director of Baker University Center and Event Services, will begin a new position as director of the Marshall Student Center at the University of South Florida next month with a salary of $90,000. His last day at OU will be Feb. 3.
“I wasn’t actively searching, but I look at the job postings every morning,” Chemburkar said earlier this month.
Chemburkar has worked at OU for three years. He makes $81,405.
As director of USF’s 3-year-old, $65 million, 235,000-square-foot student center, Chemburkar’s duties will closely resemble the tasks he conducted at OU.
Chemburkar was one of four finalists for the USF position after a nationwide search, and he was the school’s number-one choice, said Guy Conway, assistant vice president for Student Affairs at USF.
“(Chemburkar) was by far the best person,” Conway said. “He gave the best presentation, and the students liked him the most.”
OU is accepting applications for Chemburkar’s position until Jan. 19 and hopes to fill the position before he leaves, said Kent Smith, vice president for Student Affairs.
