Local orchestral folk band The Ridges recorded a session with the popular music site Daytrotter in just another show of their gaining popularity.
Daytrotter provides live sessions, video, and new music from up-and-coming artists all throughout the country.
The Ridges’ session includes songs “Not a Ghost,” “Dawn of Night,” “War Bonds,” “Overboard,” and “Jackson Pollock” off their most recent album, The Ridges. The group recorded the album at the abandoned Athens Insane Asylum last winter and released it in May.
The core of the band is comprised of Victor Rasgaitis (guitar/vocals), Talor Smith (cello/Vocals), Johnny Barton (percussion/vocals) with guest instrumentalists on bass, accordion, violin and viola.
“Americana music that falls off the bone, but it's hidden with turn of the century and Dust Bowl-era themes that make it understood that there's bone there still,” Daytrotter writes in its bio of the band.
The Ridges have had an eventful year, opening for several main acts including Jessica Lee Mayfield, Good Old War and These United States.
