Wolfe Street Apartments to close as part of capital improvement plan

The 72 tenants that once called Wolfe Street Apartments home soon will have to hunt for a new place to lay their heads.

The apartment complex will close on June 15, once the leases to its 52 apartments expire. Located across from Ping Recreation Center, this complex was home to graduate students and families, the press release said.

The apartments will tentatively be “razed later this summer,” according to a news release.

The razing is part of the Capital Improvement and Housing Master Plans, a process that will cost approximately $700,000, according to Residential Housing’s website. Until then, the area will serve as a parking lot.

Residential Housing has agreed to assist tenants in finding a new home, according to the release.

“We have notified tenants well in advance of the closure date and have arranged housing resources for them," said Christine Sheets, executive director of Residential Housing, in the release. "Assisting them in finding future housing off campus that meets their needs will be one of our top priorities."
