Campus Involvment Center hosts informative condom session

Students interested in amping up their sexual health knowledge can find solace in Tuesday’s POWER Hour.

The 13 steps to putting on a condom will be the topic of discussion at this week’s POWER Hour event, Latexology, hosted by the Campus Involvement Center.

“We hope to have students come because they are interested in being sexually healthy,” said Terry Koons, associate director for campus involvement.

Topics to headline the night include how to put on both male and female condoms correctly and how to properly use lubricant, Koons said.

It will be held on the third floor atrium of Baker University Center at 7 p.m.

Students will be equipped with safe sex packets and can purchase condoms for a quarter.

In addition to informing students about various latex products, it will also delve into giving consent before engaging in sexual activity.

“We talk about other issues that are associated with sexual activity such as in the state of Ohio, it’s illegal to have sex when under the influence,” said Mary Kate Gallagher, a peer health educator at the Ohio University Campus Involvement Center.

Jenna Williams, a junior studying community health, said they expect between 10 and 25 people to attend the event.

“It’s our way of pitching all the information at once,” Williams said.
