Ohio University College Democrats began their official 2012 campaign for President Obama Wednesday afternoon.
College Democrats were optimistic as they hosted the campaign’s official launch party from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the third floor of Baker University Center to raise awareness for the 2012 presidential campaign.
The organization handed out Avalanche pizza and soft drinks while encouraging students to register with and volunteer for the organization.
“The excitement for (Obama) hasn’t gone away,” said Nick Tuell, the president of College Democrats at OU and a junior studying political science. “As soon as the campaign season starts the students will vote for the president because of his record.”
College Democrats will be hosting a date auction to raise money for the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life Thursday, January 16.
Last year, College Democrats raised $2,200 for the American Cancer Society.
