GSS to continue graduate housing discussion

Ohio University’s Graduate Student Senate will be discussing new developments in graduate student housing at Monday’s general body meeting.

The GSS discussion will follow a meeting between GSS members and Residential Housing executives, including Executive Director Christine Sheets and Assistant Director for Planning and Assessment Jen Maskiell, about GSS members’ concerns regarding graduate housing availability. The questions arose after the announcement that the Wolfe Street Apartments would be razed later this year.

The goal of the joint meeting was to voice the concerns to the Residential Housing representatives and to formulate a plan of action to assess graduate student housing needs.

GSS members made suggestions to the executive members of Residential Housing, such as providing more centralized information to graduate students about their housing options and allocating floors of existing dorms for graduate students.

GSS members will be working with Residential Housing in the future to formulate a survey that will assess the current housing needs of graduate students at the end of the year.

GSS will discuss graduate housing further at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in 127 Morton Hall.
