Post Letter: Poor economy no excuse for ignoring needy

It’s sad that there is so much to be understood in the debates of today. How seemingly we, as livers of lives, have come to understand life, that in our difficult economic times we have so little to fall back on.

We face our community divided in its ways yet as it always was, overlooked in monetary gains. Money was never meant to be as dirty as it has become these days, as no religion was meant to be anything less than loving and caring to everyone.

We don’t need to look at anything like “fracking” to save this area because we have to look at ourselves. A lot of mistakes can be made in the madness of life, but none so great that we should think such a high level of desecration of access to clean air, food and water is sane (tell the children of El Roy, New York your rebuttals).

If the dire needs of any area are to be met, it’s in the avoidance of the persuasive advertisements that say you should avoid your emotions and avoid the giving of spare change to a place like the Community Food Initiative or United Campus Ministry that can help the needy eat nutritiously.

Our world is not about money. It’s about caring for our community and its future. It doesn’t matter that we’ve made mistakes. It matters that we don’t consume uselessly and take the time to utilize the world properly.
