While some students spent their winter break catching up on sleep, others were kept busy documenting their cross-cultural experiences in Zambia.
Eighteen participants of the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and Institute for International Journalism’s study-abroad program “Zambia: Media, Society and Governance” will debut their documentary and a special issue of the Institute for International Journalism’ quarterly magazine Global Spotlight to students and faculty at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Scripps 111.
“Hopefully when people see this, they will see what a life-changing experience it was,” said Amber Skorpenske, a junior studying journalism.
From snacking on dried caterpillars and grasshoppers to interning with various Zambian media organizations, the group has a wide range of African excursions to share with the audience Tuesday.
“I really enjoyed filming this,” said Molly Nocheck, executive producer of the documentary and a junior studying journalism.
“It’s so different getting to see things through the lens of a camera.”
