Second James Hall drought inconveniences students

Sweaty and fatigued from a Ping workout, Emily Garred returned to James Hall to shower only to find that the water had been turned off.

“I was really frustrated because the water didn’t turn on,” said Garred, a freshman studying photojournalism. “I had things to do—you can’t be walking around stinky all day.”

James’ water was shut off for about an hour Wednesday afternoon without alerting tenants and staff inside, according to Micah McCarey, residential coordinator of James Hall.

In an email, McCarey advised James residents to tape a note to a stall door if the toilet inside was full of waste. He also reminded residents of accessible restrooms in the West Green area.

The cause of Wednesday’s lack of water is still unknown, McCarey said.

In one month, this is the second time James is without water. Two weeks ago, it was shut off for repairs to the water system, according to a previous email.
