With a blood drive battle between Ohio University students halfway finished, Ohio University officials are looking to rally more students to go under the needle.
Dean of Students Ryan Lombardi presented to Student Senate Wednesday, along with Lori Gaitten and Elisa Timmerman from the American Red Cross, asking them to spread the word about the “Battle of the Greens.”
The blood drives are part of a contest between East, West and South greens, to see who can donate the most blood. The contest is already halfway over, but the outcome is not as great as it was in the fall, Gaitten said.
However, the progress that has been made with the Battle of the Greens so far has drawn national attention for the local American Red Cross chapter.
Lombardi showed a video of six-year-old Madeline Richardson, a cancer patient who has spent most of her life in hospitals.
“
I could care less about the competition,” Lombardi said. “What we need is support.”
