As part of the sesquicentennial remembrance of the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln will address Athens County residents Saturday.
A Lincoln impersonator will appear at the Civil War Ball, an event hosted by Athens County’s Historical Society and Museum from 7-11 p.m. at the Ohio University Inn.
For $45, 65 people have registered to attend the ball, which will have Civil War-era "call dances" and exhibits of period antiques and toys.
There will also be a Chinese auction for attendees. Period dress is encouraged.
“The Civil War played such a significant role in our history, it’s important to revisit it,” said Ron Luce, executive director of the Athens County Historical Society and Museum.
