Obama for America holds second in series of conference calls

The latest in a series of conference calls from Obama for America’s Greater Together initiative, President Obama’s youth-targeted segment of his re-election campaign, was held Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The conference call decided to focus on the youth’s vote, women’s rights and the president’s controversial health-care plan.

“There is too much is at stake to sit on the sidelines…enthusiasm has been high on campuses, but we are not taking the college vote for granted,” said Valeisha Butterfield-Jones, the National Youth Vote Director for Obama for America.

Because of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, often referred to as “Obamacare,” Obama’s controversial health-care plan, Kate Chapek, the Director and National Women Vote Director for Obama for America, said she believes it will help to further draw in the youth vote.

“Before (the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) more young people were uninsured than any other age group; one and five youth were uninsured,” said Chapek.

Chapek emphasized the need for as many people as possible — especially women to win the November election.

“68 percent of this campaign is made up of women,” Chapek said. “Women are going to deice this election.”
