Post Letter: Article not fair representation of Turek's speech

Brandon,

I attended the Turek event Feb. 28 and read your article the next morning. It sounds as if your intolerance of Christianity smothered any possibility of clear and unbiased thought.

The article contains two quotes from Frank; both were in the first few minutes of his presentation. Were you able to entertain an idea that opposed your current views for more than the intro?

The article highlighted everyone who protested Turek and had something to say in opposition. The four main points of his presentation were mentioned and nothing more. Your article didn’t even attempt to offer an equal voice for each side. It highlighted the opposing views with just enough mention of Frank to set him up as the “bad intolerant Christian.”

Even the title was misleading. Frank was not there to “push buttons,” nor did he try to get a rise out of the audience by poking at their beliefs. He presented what he believes and received an onslaught from the audience and this editorial.

Would “murder for the church” be deemed acceptable for an audience member to shout if he were of another faith? Why didn’t that little comment from the last questioner make the paper?

If this article was not meant to cover the event but to survey the ideas of those protesting and opposing Frank Turek, I missed the point and I apologize if this sounds heated.

If it was intended to provide a balanced account of the evening, I think you missed the mark.
