Southeast Ohio’s fracking controversy made it to Student Senate’s agenda Wednesday night.
Camille Scott, co-founder of Ohio University Students Against Fracking, highlighted health risks associated with hydraulic fracturing.
Fracking involves injecting a liquid underground to extract natural gas, Scott said.
However, companies are not required to disclose which chemicals are used in this solution, she added.
Scott also addressed House Bill 133 that would overhaul how state-owned or controlled land is leased for oil and gas development, according to a previous article in The Post.
Senate members decided to conduct further research regarding fracking before coming to a resolution about it.
