The second annual Adult Easter Egg Hunt in the dark has been scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. at West State St. Ball Park.
There will be prize contests as well as hot dogs and chips at the venue, said Event Coordinator Amanda Davis.
“The reason that the event is labeled as an “adult” Easter egg hunt is that we don’t want all the kids running around in the dark,” Davis said. “It’s mainly for their safety.”
With the $10 entry fee, 25 percent of the proceeds go to the Goodworks Inc. homeless shelter, another 25 percent goes toward “My Sister’s Place” charity and the final 50 percent is directed toward paying for the event.
Numerous other Easter festivities will be held in Athens this week, including an Easter egg hunt for children on Saturday at the Christ Community Wesleyan Church and an Easter Egg-Stravaganza for different age groups on Friday held at Athens Fellowship.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Davis.
