Alumni relations VP transfers to Arkansas

The head of Ohio University’s Alumni Association is leaving for a similar position at the University of Arkansas.

Graham Stewart, assistant vice president for alumni relations, has announced that his last day will be April 27. Stewart is also the executive director of the Alumni Association, which coordinates events, manages alumni volunteers and communications with alumni, and connects alumni to departments and colleges throughout campus, according to OU’s website.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here,” Stewart said. “This is not as much about leaving here as it is going there. Arkansas has a well-established alumni program, it has 28,000 dues paying members, and there are a lot of big things happening on campus.”

Stewart will start his job as the associate vice chancellor for alumni and executive director for the Arkansas Alumni Association on May 14.

“Graham has an impressive background working with alumni groups, and you can tell he’s very passionate about alumni work,” said Steve Nipper, president of the Arkansas Alumni Association Board of Directors, in a news release.

The University of Arkansas is located in Fayetteville and has about 23,000 students, according to its website.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for Graham and his family,” said Bryan Benchoff, vice president for university advancement, in an email. “We wish Graham well in his new position.”

Benchoff will “set direction for oversight of the alumni association while a national search is conducted,” Stewart said.

Stewart’s wife Tina Stewart, the alumni and internship coordinator for the Scripps College of Communication, also will be leaving for Arkansas later this year. Both started work at OU in 2008.

“My husband and I are very close, so I will be moving but maybe later,” she said. “I will be gone in about 10 weeks, but nothing is formal.”

Tina Stewart said she notified the dean of the Scripps College and they have begun a transition plan to lead into a search for her replacement.

Graham Stewart earns $136,266 per year, and Tina Stewart earns $35,423.
