Breastfeeding offerred classes at O'Bleness

O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, located at 55 Hospital Dr. Athens 45701, is providing free help sessions for mothers who are breastfeeding.

The sessions will be hosted by Michele Biddlestone, O’Bleness’ international board certified lactation consultant, and will be held every Wednesday at 11 a.m. for an hour.

According to a release from O’Bleness, Biddlestone will be helping participants by allowing them to check the weight of their child and answer questions regarding the breastfeeding process.

“(The session) enables mothers who have already had their baby a chance to ask me questions and address any questions concerning breastfeeding that they have had since leaving the hospital,” Biddlestone said.

Though Biddlestone admitted the programs are not a necessity for every mother who plans to breastfeed, but said the sessions are a useful tool to those who do plan to breastfeed.

“I think it’s important for a mother to be educated about breastfeeding before they have their first baby,” she said.

She added that the program is not exclusively attended by women; men are also welcome to come in to weigh their child or ask questions.

The first session will be held on April 11 in the lower level conference room of

O’Bleness.
