Five finalists selected for student trustee position

Five students have advanced one step closer to an appointment as a student trustee for Ohio University.

Friday afternoon, the Student Senate committee in charge of reviewing the applications announced the finalists for the position: junior Drew Hudson, studying anthropology; sophomore Allie Dyer, studying political science; sophomore Amanda Roden, studying Spanish; sophomore Jackson Lavelle, studying political science and history; and freshman Alex Molnar, studying industrial systems engineering.

There were originally eight applicants for the position; three were eliminated after an application review and interviews with the Student Senate committee.

The finalists’ applications will be forwarded to the office of OU President Roderick McDavis for review before being submitted to the office of Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who will appoint one student to serve a two-year term on the OU Board of Trustees.

Current student trustees are Danielle Parker and Allison Arnold, both juniors studying public relations.

Parker’s term will expire this year and the newly appointed student trustee will replace her. Arnold will serve on the board for one more year.
