Man faces prison for aggravated burglary, abduction charges

A 36-year old man was arraigned Monday morning for charges of aggravated burglary and abduction.

Roger D. Williams, whose address is unknown, appeared in Athens County Municipal Court Monday morning on one court of aggravated burglary and one count of abduction.

Williams allegedly forced his way into a woman’s residence Sunday, struck her numerous times and did not allow her to leave, according to court documents.

No plea was entered on the charges and Williams is currently being held on a $35,000 bond at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

Aggravated burglary is a first-degree felony, and abduction is a third-degree felony.

Williams could be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of $30,000 if convicted of both charges at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.

Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn could not share any additional information at this time.

Williams is due back in court May 9 at 2 p.m. for a preliminary hearing.
