Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC
Betty White’s new show Off Their Rockers on NBC is a new twist on the old show Candid Camera. This time around, though, White and her crew of prankster grandparents have geared up to prank our generation.
The show's premiere Wednesday started off-fast paced with an elderly couple asking a young woman to take their picture at the spot where they got engaged forty years ago. Once the elderly man turns from his wife to the camera, she falls off the ledge she’s standing on. The show then goes moves into the opening credits with the song “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by the Twisted Sisters, giving White and her gang an anthem to get back at all of us youngsters who have been giving them crap for too long.
Another prank that stuck out to me was when an elderly woman walked up to two teenage girls and asked them to text her future daughter-in-law for her (honestly, I could see this happening) and asked them to type out what turns into a vile and rude message. The most interesting thing I found was that the girl was actually happy to type the rude message — not only is White making fun of our generation, but she is also pointing out our flaws.
White is executive producer of this new show that had its debut this past Wednesday. The premiere drew in 7.2 million viewers and a rating of 1.8, putting it in a good position to keep its spot on NBC.
Not a bad way for Betty White to celebrate her 90th birthday.
