Board of Trustees names new secretary

Ohio University's Board of Trustees has welcomed its second new member in a week.

Peter Mather has been named the board's new secretary.

Mather, an associate professor in the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education and the coordinator for OU's Higher Education and Student Affairs program, will replace outgoing secretary Tom Davis. His role begins July 1, according to an email from OU President Roderick McDavis.

Mather will continue his work as a professor and program coordinator while serving as the board secretary.

"He brings a deep understanding of higher education, university administration, organizational communication, and leadership," McDavis said. "He undoubtedly will continue to make meaningful contributions to Ohio University and serve as an able representative of our Board of Trustees in his new position."

Earlier this week, Ohio Gov. John Kasich appointed Diana Hisey as the board's newest trustee. She replaced C. Robert Kidder.
