Hall-Jones named interim dean of students

Just under a month after Ohio University’s previous dean of students Ryan Lombardi was promoted, former assistant dean of student affairs Jenny Hall-Jones has taken his place.

Jones, who made $79,098 as the previous assistant dean of student affairs, will now replace Lombardi as interim dean of students.

Lombardi made $129,502 in this position during the 2011-12 school year.

“She is an asset to Ohio University, and I am confident that she will continue serving students with exceptional integrity,” Lombardi said in a news release.

Jones will begin working in her new position on June 11. The search to permanently replace Lombardi will begin fall semester.

"I was really excited," Jones said. "It’s an honor to follow in his footsteps. It’s amazing for me because I love this place and the students here and I’m really excited for the opportunity."

Jones, an OU alumna, has a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD from OU. Jones has also served as OU’s assistant director of residence life for over five years.

Jones looks forward to student orientation and continuing her accessibility to students, she said.

"I hope to be a different dean than Dean Lombardi," Jones added. "But those tendencies of accessibility to be in touch with students, I’m going to keep those things going."

Zach George, Student Senate President looks forward to continuing working with Jones because of her willingness to work with students, he said.

“It’ll be an easy transition for her,” George added. “She’s very student centered, student oriented and that’s what we need.”
