Ohio University President Roderick McDavis said he is expecting to appoint a new chief of staff next week after spending almost a month conducting the search to replace Becky Watts.
Watts, whose last day was May 31, is now working at Ohio’s Board of Regents.
During Watts’ four years at OU, she earned her doctorate degree and made $124,962 as chief of staff.
The progress of the search to replace Watts is not at all slowing down, said Eric Burchard, head of the search committee, in an email.
“The search is going well,” said Burchard, director of government relations. “Seven individuals applied for the position, no front-runners.”
There are several key qualifications that the potential replacement must be able to exemplify, Burchard said.
“(He or she) must show the ability to work on a team,” he said. “(Show) leadership, excellent communication skills, knowledge of university leadership, and operations and processes.”
Since the search is still ongoing, there aren’t any scheduled interviews at this point in time, Burchard said.
The university posted the position on its website from May 18 to June 1.
