Ohio University officials signed a contract for a car-sharing program that will start Fall Semester.
As previously proposed, students would have the option of renting a car hourly, daily or overnight. Costs were estimated to be about $10 an hour and included gas and insurance.
“(The program would be) a low-cost transportation opportunity to students, faculty and staff,” said Marty Paulins, director of OU's Transportation and Parking Services, in a previous Post article. “The end result will be a reduction in the carbon footprint, which is what we’re trying to do.”
An outside company will provide the vehicles for the program. Those renting a vehicle have to be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license.
