A fire broke out in a popular Athens bar last evening.
A cause has yet to be determined for the flames at The Pigskin, 38 N. Court St, said Athens Fire Chief Robert Troxel.
“The building wasn’t occupied in the area where the fire broke out; no one
was injured," Troxel said. "We had about 12 firefighters on the scene."
There was a total of $7,000 in damage to the Pigskin. Structural damage accounted for $5,000, and an additional $2,000 worth of contents were lost in the fire.
The fire is still under investigation.
