Jack Brose, previous dean of Ohio University’s Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, might find himself in his old position a little longer than he expected.
After more than 10 years as dean, Brose will now serve as vice provost for health affairs and special assistant to the executive vice president and provost for a contracted three years.
However, if a contract with a dean finalist is not signed, Brose might serve as interim dean while the search continues, said Karoline Lane, OU-HCOM's director of communication.
Brose made $216, 373 as dean. He will make $215,000 in his new position.
“I’m so excited for this opportunity,” Brose said. “I can’t wait to get started.”
Brose’s duties in the provost office will include overseeing the university’s commitment to the Health Enterprise Strategic Plan, which will research and develop university health programs.
“I've enjoyed working with Dr. Brose during the time that he has been dean, and I'm pleased that he will be in the provost's office next year,” said Ann Fidler, chief of staff to Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit, in an email. “There's much for him to do, and it will be interesting to watch the partnerships with Dublin and the Cleveland Clinic develop.”
Brose will also fundraise for OU-HCOM’s two new campuses in Dublin and Warrensville Heights. The partnership with Cleveland Clinic to open the Warrensville Heights campus will cost the university $36 million of the project’s $49.1 million cost.
“I have a lot of things to get done in the three years that I’m slated to get done in this position,” Brose said. “I’m going to be a pretty busy guy. I’m not sure I’m slowing down at all.”
Brose will also continue to teach and oversee discussion groups in OU-HCOM.
