The second Student Senate meeting of the year looks to be uneventful, except for a group of activists coming to speak at the assembly.
Students from Bobcats for a Conflict-Free Campus, a sub-group of the national organization STAND against Genocide, fresh off a victory with the university, are looking to further their cause to eliminate any link between Ohio University and conflict minerals form the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to Senate President Zach George.
“This is a dire, urgent human rights crisis that the university has the responsibility to give its attention to,” JD Stier, campaign manager for Raise Hope for the Congo, said in a previous Post article.
Senate will be meeting in Walter 235 at 7:15.
