Less than four hours before Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to take the stage at the Athens Community Center, Mitt Romney's son spoke to a crowd of more than 60 people at the Athens County Republican Headquarters on Station Street.
Craig Romney, 31, mentioned Biden briefly, and supporters in the crowd booed before Romney moved on to discuss job creation, life with his dad and how Athens Republicans can help put Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney in the White House by swaying undecided voters.
"Let's make this final push, and let's make sure my dad takes the White House," he said.
Romney spoke for about 20 minutes before taking pictures with supporters.
"Let's take advantage of having a Romney in Athens," said Rebecca Thacker, a professor in the department of sport administration and the chairwoman of Athens County for Romney-Ryan. "Typically, they're so busy they can't come to such a small town, but they're making an effort."
Biden is scheduled to speak Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
