Even while preparing for 11Fest in the spring, Number Fest’s founder Dominic Petrozzi has another party up his sleeve.
Next fall will play host to an expanded, two-day festival with an entirely new name.
“We are really trying to create something that is massive compared to what anyone has seen in our area,” Petrozzi said. “We have the ability to do it, and we have the track record to show we can do it.”
Though 11Fest will remain in a similar format, Petrozzi said that the new two-day fest in the fall will obtain a new look in addition to its new name, which has yet to be decided. The weekend will include camping, alcohol vendors and more music in order to attract larger corporate companies.
“Number Fest wont change; it is what it is,” he said. “(The two-day fest) would just be a whole different vibe, and in doing so we would hope to attract a larger fan base.”
The DJs, hip-hop and electronic beats that festgoers love will return for the fall festival, but the organizers are looking to expand into different genres. As a result, fest organizers are working closely with fans to select musicians to headline the event.
“We are working with OU students and OSU students to try and figure out what would be an ideal lineup for this spring,” Petrozzi said. “We’ve definitely got a couple of artists in mind.”
Despite the changes, Petrozzi said that it would not change the security or safety side of the event, although the staff will work tirelessly to keep the grounds in order and clean.
Petrozzi added that 11Fest will most likely take place in April because of a lack of interfering events. The crew is looking into a Labor Day event for the two-day fest, but the dates have yet to be set in stone.
Charlie Walter, a sophomore who has yet to declare a major, said he believes that the double threat of fests will be a great addition to the Athens area.
“I think that it sounds awesome,” he said. “It’s a blast, and obviously having a two-day fest in the fall wouldn’t hurt anything.”
Walter also said he thinks that the camping format for the fall festival would be a great addition.
“Depending on the weather, I think everyone would camp,” he said. “It’s too cool of an experience.”
Tyler Beck, a sophomore studying biological sciences, is similarly excited for the new addition.
“I feel like these fests are going to be the highlight of the year,” Beck said.
