Ohio University’s Division of Student Affairs will be asking students to walk with faculty, staff and administration during Halloween.
After many students participated in OU’s “green jacket program” for Mill Fest during the 2011–12 school year, Student Affairs decided to ask for student volunteers at this year’s Halloween.
“The more bodies we have in green jackets, the better off we’ll be,” said Ryan Lombardi, interim vice president for Student Affairs. “I thought it went really well. Students really appreciated it.”
All volunteers will be given a $50 gift card that will be redeemable at OU’s Baker University Center.
After volunteering for 15 years, Shawn Osterman, associate dean at the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, is looking forward to working another year.
“It makes me very nervous that these young people would be in danger if they didn’t get help,” Osterman said. “I’m perfectly happy to wander around campus and answer questions.”
