An earthquake rumbled through Athens early afternoon Saturday.
The 4.3-magnitude earthquake occurred at 12:08 p.m. in Southeast Kentucky near the Virginia border.
The town of Blackey, Kentucky, where the U.S. Geological Survey located the
earthquake’s epicenter, is roughly 200 miles south of Athens.
The intensity of the earthquake by the time it reached Athens was measured as intensity II, meaning there was weak shaking, but no damage, in the area, according to the agency.
