A Belpre man was sentenced to more than nine years in prison for attacking and robbing an 82-year-old woman in January after pleading guilty to multiple charges on Tuesday.
Christopher Fleming, 21, drove with three other individuals, two of whom allegedly entered the residence of Ota Vincent, severely beat her, stabbed her and stole items from her home in Brandeberry Road in Coolville on Jan. 24, according to a news release from Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn.
Fleming allegedly committed the incident with Brandon Baker, 20, Colin Stout, 20, and Cody Stout, 23.
Cody Stout took a plea agreement with Blackburn’s office in November and was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison.
In September, Fleming and the other three men were indicted on two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of robbery, two counts of felonious assault, two counts of kidnapping, one count of attempted murder, one count of abduction, one count of tampering with evidence, one count of theft of drugs, one count of theft from the elderly and one count of theft.
As part of the agreement, multiple of Fleming’s charges were changed to a lesser degree and merged into each other and his attempted murder charge was dismissed, according to the news release.
Fleming was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison.
If Fleming was convicted of all his original charges at a trial he could have been sentenced to a maximum of 94 years and six months in prison, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
The cases against Baker and Colin Stout are still pending. As part of his plea agreement, Cody Stout agreed to testify against his three co-defendants.
