Pulp Fiction via NCM Fathom Events

Cinema to show Tarantino classics

Quentin Tarantino fans can once again rejoice and grab their Big Kahuna burgers as two of their favorites are returning to the big screen.

The Athena Grand, in association with NCM Fathom Events, Miramax and IGN, is bringing back Reservoir Dogs on Dec. 4 and Pulp Fiction on Dec. 6, both at 7 p.m., in celebration of Tarantino XX, a Blu-Ray collection of the filmmaker’s 20 years of work. Tickets will be $12.50.

“Audiences have the opportunity to gather with like-minded fans and have a unique, highly entertaining experience with the Tarantino XX events,” said Dan Diamond, senior vice president of business development for NCM Fathom Events. “Seeing the two events for one last time on the big screen is a rare opportunity, and we hope they enjoy them.”

In addition to marking the release of the collection, these screenings also come weeks before the release of Django Unchained, Tarantino’s latest film, on Dec. 25.

Along with the films, each screening will include exclusive interviews and original trailers, handpicked by Tarantino from his personal collection, which influenced his work.

“I think you get to have the same effect of seeing a new movie for the first time,” said Rick Frame, manager of the Athena Grand. “You can go to Wal-Mart and buy most of these movies and watch them at home. People who like the experience of the movie theater like to be able to see these in the theater.”

Frame noted that, in the yearlong process that the Athena Grand has been showcasing NCM Fathom Events, the audiences have been getting bigger with each one.

Considered two of the best independent films ever made, Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction have gone on to influence and inspire many films since their releases in 1992 and 1994, respectively. It was in Pulp Fiction that Tarantino also won his Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

“There is no doubt that Quentin Tarantino’s writing and directorial style has reinvented filmmaking as we know it,” said Shelly Maxwell, executive vice president of NCM Fathom Events. “Join Vincent, Jules, Marcellus Wallace, Mr. Orange, Mr. Pink, Mr. Blonde and the rest of his infamous characters as they return to the big screen in this special two-night Fathom event.”
