Some Ohio University students will get a chance Tuesday to talk to a popular administrator who most haven’t seen since he left for Oklahoma in June.
Kent Smith, formerly OU’s vice president for Student Affairs, took a job in January, 2012 as the president of Langston University, an historically black college in Langston, Okla., near Oklahoma City.
Smith will Skype with students from Shively Residence Hall from 6–7 P.M. Tuesday in the hall’s lobby.
Keith Turner, residential assistant in Shively, organized the event for the hall’s residents.
Smith visited Shively last year to speak to the residents, Turner said.
Some students may be studying for finals, Turner said, but he said he thinks some people are interested in stopping by.
“(Smith has) just always been that type of person who looked to help every student whenever he could,” Turner said. “Some (students) had a working relationship with him, some did not, but appreciated the work he did.”
