After a long day defending his dissertation in North Carolina, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs Ryan Lombardi received his Doctorate of Education degree Tuesday — just in time for his birthday on Wednesday.
Lombardi received the degree from North Carolina State University a week after his wife, Kara Lombardi, received hers from Ohio University.
“We’re a double doctorate household now,” Lombardi said.
Lombardi said he hopes he now can engage in final negotiations for his full appointment to the vice president for Student Affairs position, “within a reasonable amount of time.”
Lombardi said his dissertation discussed job satisfaction of mid-level managers in the Student Affairs field. There were two sources of dissatisfaction in the national sample, he said.
“One source of dissatisfaction was lack of internal opportunities for promotion, and the second was the lack of monetary support for professional development,” he said.
OU President Roderick McDavis had requested a letter from the chair of Lombardi’s faculty committee confirming that he had received the degree, Lombardi said.
