Haydenville man pleads guilty to multiple charges including Nelsonville bank robbery

Jason Johnson, a 30-year-old Haydenville, Ohio, resident, has plead guilty to three crimes and could face up to 20 years in prison.

The court docket states that Johnson received a charge for tampering with evidence.

His further indictments include possession of heroin, and two counts of robbery, including robbing approximately $3,000 from the Citizens Bank in Nelsonville, Ohio and robbing Jewell’s Carry-Out in Glouster, Ohio, Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said.

The Nelsonville police could not be reached for comment on the bank robbery.

Johnson currently holds a three-year sentence for the bank robbery. The Athens County Prosecutor’s Office included an option in Johnson’s plea agreement to satisfy the remainder of his felonies.

The agreement will either add 17 years to that sentence with the possibility of parole in 13 years, or add 12 years to Johnson’s three-year sentence with no opportunity for parole or early release. Johnson will also be required to pay fines to Citizens Bank and Jewell’s Carry-Out to compensate for his actions.

Blackburn added that an official date for Johnson’s sentence is not yet set in stone, but it will most likely take place next week.
