Equal pay activist to speak at Ohio University

Lilly Ledbetter, equal pay activist and namesake of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act, will come to Ohio University on Thursday, March 14, according to the university press release.

Ledbetter is an activist who spent a decade lobbying for fair pay for woman after receiving word that she earned 40 percent less than her male counterparts during her 19 “grueling” years working at Goodyear Tires, according to the university press release. She will come to OU in March as part of the Kennedy Lecture Series.

The lecture will showcase “the story of the courageous woman whose discrimination battle inspired the Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act,” according to the university press release.

The event will be held at the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. The lecture is free and limited seating is available. The lecture begins at 7:30, doors open at 6:30.
