An Athens County Grand Jury indicted a local man for assaulting a woman and putting her in the hospital in January.
Michael Boivin, 53, was indicted on one count of felonious assault and one count of domestic violence Monday.
Boivin allegedly beat a woman, who is a member of his household, severely in the face and upper body. The woman suffered damage to her eyes and face and was taken via life-flight to Grant Hospital in Columbus, according to court documents.
Boivin is currently being held on $50,000 bond at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
He could be sentenced to a maximum of eight years and six months in prison and a maximum fine of $16,000 if convicted of both charges at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
Boivin is scheduled to appear in Athens County Court of Common Pleas on Feb. 20 at 9:30 a.m. for his arraignment hearing.
