Graduate College announces permanent associate dean

The Graduate College officially has just one associate dean.

David Koonce, an associate professor in industrial and systems engineering and former interim associate dean of the Graduate College, has accepted the offer to be promoted to permanent associate dean, said Joe Shields, vice president for Research and Creative Activity and dean of the Graduate College, in an email.

“I am very pleased that Dr. Koonce has agreed to serve in a more permanent capacity with the Graduate College, and look forward to working with him, the rest of our staff, and others across campus to continue our efforts to advance graduate education at Ohio University,” Shields said.

During the 2012-2013 school year, Koonce worked alongside Cindy Anderson, the other interim associate dean of the Graduate College, as they both covered half the work of the job.

Anderson will be returning to her job in the Sociology and Anthropology department as an associate professor full-time.

The transition is expected be completed by July 1, 2013.
