O'Betty's Union street location closed

O’Betty’s Red Hot! Dogs and Sausages will no longer serve customers from it’s West Union Street location.

The business, located at 30 W Union St, closed down after 14 months of service. The decision was based on the underestimated amount of work, said owner Bob Satmary.

“We were doing okay, but not as great as we wanted to do,” Satmary said. “It was a great experience. We did relatively well, just not well enough to maintain (two locations).”

The employees from the W. Union location will receive severance pay and most of them will have a job at the original O’Betty’s on West State Street, which has been open for about 10 years and will remain open during its normal hours.

Satmary said that while the business closing is “sad,” people have already suggested having another restaurant in Columbus rather than having one so close to the original.

“I’ve always thought about Columbus,” Satmary said. “We wont (open another) one in town. Personally, I’m starting to think about traveling (and) retirement things. (O’Betty’s will be) easier to handle if we just have one store.”

Although the second location did not work out, O’Betty’s would like to thank their business partners, employees and customers for the positive experience, Satmary said.
