Although Ohio will not open Mid-American Conference play until Friday, senior catcher Lauren Gellerman was named the MAC East player of the week for the third time this season Monday.
Gellerman led the Bobcats (15-10) to a pair of victories against Canisius Saturday by recording six hits and three runs, including a pair of home runs. The two homers puts her at 32 in her career, extending the program record, which she set earlier this year.
She now has 10 home runs on the season, which is second to senior first baseman Caitlin Colvin (12). Gellerman also has team-highs in batting average (.425), RBIs (35), slugging percentage (.938) and total bases (75).
Ohio softball has now received seven weekly honors this season, including Gellerman also being named the MAC female scholar athlete of the week on March 15.
