The Board of Trustees’ Academic committee convened Thursday afternoon to highlight the year’s successes as well as giving attendees updates on what’s to come.
Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit introduced several speakers during the meeting. Scott Titsworth, dean of the Scripps College of Communication, began by highlighting various accomplishments that the college achieved.
“We’re doing great work in the college,” Titsworth said. “93 percent of our students received employment after graduation.”
Titsworth also mentioned the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism’s accreditation update, stating that the school met eight out of the nine standards.
Ryan Lombardi, vice president for Student Affairs, was also in attendance to present statistics from judiciaries about high risk drinking behavior.
“We’ve seen positive results. …we’re still above the national average,” Lombardi said. “(There is a) 15 percent decline, and judicial statistics says there’s a 30-40 percent drop in violations.”
There were also talks about the General Education task force that will meet in fall 2013 to discuss the process of reevaluating and redesigning the general education curriculum for Ohio University students.
Also announced was the hiring of Margaret Kennedy-Dygas as the next dean of the College of Fine Arts. She is expected to arrive on campus May 20.
