Guesses She'll Write About Random Bands Playing in Bars
A local band performed a show at a bar in Athens this weekend.
“Wait ... what was the name of that band? Anyway, there was a band playing some music with some instruments,” said Kyle Richmond, a junior studying a major at a university. “I think there might have been noises coming from the mouth of a band member at one point. It was pretty original.”
The band members played a set amount of time and did it with some feelings.
“Yeah, we like when bands play in our bar,” said Bar Owner. “The students like an excuse to drink, and we like an excuse to profit off of their alcoholism.”
There was a bartender who made drinks for people at the bar.
“I’m in it for the tips,” said Bar Tender. “It’s a pretty easy gig, but it gets complicated sometimes with everyone who works here all having Bar for a first name.”
Lights were used in the performance so that the audience could see the band. There were blue, red and yellow lights.
“We really wanted to have lights for our show,” said band member Richie Thompson. “We thought it would be a great touch if the audience could not only hear us, but see us.”
The band said its genre is Country-Rock-Jazz-New Age-Pop-Holiday-Blues-Classical-Spoken Word. It is reportedly the only band in this genre to ever exist.
“Sometimes we play at coffee shops, too,” Thompson said. “Once, I even walked around and then jumped on top of a table while playing my instrument at a coffee shop. Everyone really liked it.”
Everyone reportedly did not like it.
“Where did Jenny go?” said Mary Cranberry, an audience member.
Jenny Haverstock reportedly left the bar to go listen to a better band playing on the street.
