Three presidential hopefuls emerged in this year’s Graduate Student Senate election, but in the end it was Team Renew who took the majority of the executive positions.
Joel Newby was voted as president of GSS, receiving 123 votes of the 293 ballots cast in the 2013-2014 election, replacing current president, Tynita White.
Newby was followed by Mohamad Al-Issa, the independent candidate who netted 105 votes, and W. Alex Wesaw, VISION’s presidential candidate who garnered 51 votes.
Ed Gaither will remain vice president for Administration and Finances of GSS. Jessica Furgerson will serve as vice president of Communication. Liz Volpe from VISION will be vice president for Committees and Legislative Affairs, beating Team Renew's Robert Storm by just 3 votes.
