Volleyball: Theis adds two to the 2013 class

Ohio coach Ryan Theis announced the signing of two student athletes for the 2013 season today, according to a press release.

In Alexis Pinson, a graduate student transfer from Arizona State University, and Brooke Coleman, an incoming freshman from Plano, Texas, the Bobcats continue their out-of-state recruiting trend with no Ohio natives on the current roster.

Pinson, a 6-foot-2-inch middle blocker, will come to Athens as graduate student with one year of eligibility left. While at Arizona State she originally was a walk-on but soon became a key player for the Sun Devils, leading the team with 132 total blocks and 220 kills during the 2012 season. Her performance helped Arizona State to qualify for the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2006.

While Pinson plans to receive a master in the sports administration program, incoming freshman Coleman plans to major in sport management and marketing.

The 5-foot-8 inch setter, earned first team all-district honors as a senior captain. The Plano-native had 573 assists, 303 kills and 404 digs during her last high school season and helped her team to a third-place district finish as well as an advance to the fourth round of the playoffs.

Pinson and Coleman will join the incoming freshmen Katie Horton, Ali Lake and Mallory Salis, who all signed earlier this year.
