Ohio saw most of the competition the Mid-American Conference has to offer in the Angola Shootout last weekend — as the field included five other MAC teams — though the Bobcats finished seventh.
The Bobcats will head to Nashport to compete in the MAC Championships at Longaberger Golf Club.
Junior Kara Brinkmann believes that the hard work she and her teammates did all season should transition into great performances during the tournament this weekend.
“We have worked so hard this spring and really played well as a team, so we are all looking forward to this weekend,” Brinkmann said. “I think the team is very confident looking into this weekend and were ready to go take on the MAC.”
Coach Kelly Ovington said that the key to success in the conference tournament is going to be her team’s performance on the greens.
“The greens will definitely be the difference this weekend,” Ovington said. “They should be running very fast.”
This weekend marks the final tournament of the year for the Bobcats, but will be the last tournament in which senior Sarah Tranelli will get to compete. The senior cherishes her four years at Ohio and wants to conclude her career with a solid finish.
“I have had such wonderful opportunities over the last four years, and I look forward to giving it my best and finishing my career on a high note,” Tranelli said. “I feel confident in my game and my teammates, and I'm ready to finish strong.”
Brinkmann, along with her teammates, are going to be sad to see Tranelli leave, but she echoes the thoughts of her teammate, as they want to finish strong.
“We're definitely sad that this is our senior Sarah Tranelli's last tournament,” Brinkmann said. “She has been such an amazing teammate to all of us, but we are really looking forward to finishing with a bang!”
The Bobcats previously played the course in Nashport in a preview event during the fall when they finished 11th out of 15 teams.
