OU-HCOM approved to enroll 32 medical students at its Cleveland extension branch

Students in the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine will soon have the option of studying farther north in the state than they would at either of the college’s Athens or Columbus branches.

The college announced today that it was approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation to partner with Cleveland Clinic and open a northeast Ohio branch located on the Clinic's South Pointe Hospital’s campus in Warrensville Heights. Classes will begin in July 2015 with 32 medical students.

“This campus is an essential part of our mission to improve the healthcare of the citizens of Ohio,” said OU President Roderick McDavis, in a news release. “As the need for primary care practitioners in Ohio continues to grow, this campus allows us to accept a larger share of the responsibility for educating physicians committed to remaining in Ohio.”

OU-HCOM’s Columbus branch will open in 2014 with 50 students, according to a previous Post article.
