OU Athletics generates over $1 million in ticket revenue

No Mid-American Conference school had ever generated more than $1 million in ticket revenue, until last year.

Ohio University Athletics generated the most ticket revenue in MAC history during the 2012-13 school year.

OU Athletics' annual report, released Wednesday, stated that OU generated more than $1 million in ticket revenue and led the MAC in attendance for football and men's basketball games with 260,458 fans attending such events.

"Our success is a team effort," Jim Schaus, OU Director of Athletics, wrote in the report. "This (annual report) serves as a snapshot from the past 12 months, a period of time that will be remembered as one of the finest in Ohio Athetlics history."

During the same period, OU Athletics received $8,793,000 from students' General Fee, according to a previous Post article, totaling 34 percent of what students pay for the fee.

The report highlighted OU's national exposure from its 12 ESPN appearances and other national news outlet coverage. OhioBobcats.com had more than six million total hits for the second-consecutive year while OU Athletics' social media accouts have more than 42,000 followers, the report states.
